How Einstein reassured that light is a particle?

It was the period of Newton when he said the light is nothing but a stream of particles, and with which the reflection, refraction and other observed phenomena are explained. Everything was good. But after that, there were new observations which could not be explained by the particle nature of light. The famous one was Young's double slit experiment, which deduced that light was nothing but a wave and was later known to be a type of electromagnetic wave (with the help of Maxwell's equations).  Then scientists re-explained how the wave-light could perform the reflection, refraction and other phenomena which were previously under the category of particle-light. So people changed their perspective and agreed that light was a wave. Again, everything was good. But with no concern about the mental peace of scientists, another observation had appeared - the photoelectric effect. What is the photoelectric effect? In short, you throw the light at the surface of metals, and they give ...

Preparation to switch from normal to geared bicycle...

There is no need to say what a cycle is. When you are asked to picture a cycle (or) bicycle, here is your typical photo. We refer to the above pic as a 'normal' cycle. You would have also known about the 'gear' cycle, where the chain can sit on various levels, like this. If you are a person who wants to switch from a normal cycle to geared cycle (like us), we think our experience might help you regarding that.  NOTE : This post is not about how the gear cycle works. 1. Is a gear cycle faster than a normal cycle?      No, a gear cycle is NOT  equal to a bike. The maximum speed achieved by the gear cycle and a similar normal cycle is the same. You will not get any speed advantage because of the gears. 2. Then why use gear cycles?     Gear cycles are used mainly to provide comfort during cycling. You need less effort by the legs to keep the cycle moving when compared to the normal cycle. 3. What is the trade-off for comfort?     Yeah, as you may...

The Insider - Review

Government exists to rule the people and bring a change in society for the greater good. The people serving in the Government are given various privileges for serving the people. However, the Government is also run by us, humans.         When our weaknesses overcome the desire to make a better society, there comes the problem. When the supporters of self-welfare are more than the supporters of people welfare, there comes the problem. When some think very strongly to destroy others than uplift others, there comes the problem. When an intelligent and ambitious person lives among a group of corrupted people, there comes the problem...     The book, "The Insider", shows us the journey of Anand among the chaos of oppression and dark politics. The journey was the depiction of serving the people and at the same time solving the maze thrown by his own colleagues. It is about how he managed to provide welfare to people in his state, Afrozabad.   ...

The Psychology of Money - Review

Success is mostly recognized by how much money one earns in one's life. But success is also about what one does with the hard-earned money. In fact, monetary success is about what one does to use money mindfully. The book "Psychology of money" does give an insight about the same...     The top takeaways from the book can be;- Respect your money - don't take it for granted. Never take the monetary risks that can make you/your family into zero. Compounding - it works only when you give enough time. It demands your patience. The probability of your success is the same as the probability of your peers' success. Luck can interfere sometimes and that doesn't mean you cannot or should not do your best. You can just save money for the sake of saving - without any reason. Just a question - "What do you own? Why do you own them?"     When coming to the book, it is pretty simple and short; No complex formulae or logic behind the au...

A difference between Vapour and Gas

We know the process of Condensation-conversion from vapour to liquid at a given temperature. What's the conversion from gas to liquid at a given temperature called..?     Doesn't this sound stupid? Like, what's the deal in calling a gas and vapour? Well, if you already know the answer, yeah, you are right. A gas never changes to liquid at a fixed temperature..!     Condensation works by increasing the pressure so that matter changes to liquid, a more contained form. But on the other hand, a gas, irrespective of how much high pressure you apply, never reaches the liquid state.      Does that mean we can never liquefy the gas? Of course, it's absurd. We have to control the other parameter, temperature. You reduce the temperature, and yeah, it changes to a liquid.  To give you a little more info, the temperature, after which we can never liquefy, is called "Critical Temperature."      Above the critical temperature, we ca...
